Guide to visiting Taranto

Interest

Taranto is surprising.
The city is too often identified with the many problems that concern it, and nobody denies them, let alone the tarantini.
So a sad and gray city covered with dust?
Not at all!
Instead who will go to visit it will discover a solar city and very close to its sea.
It will be nice to walk through the old town and the new city while admiring the unique landscape of the famous two seas: Mar Grande and Mar Piccolo.
Taranto is history
City of Magna Graecia founded in 706 Next Christ from Sparta, later become Roman, and then seat of the most important Principality of Southern Italy.
Taranto is monumental.
Starting from the columns of a pagan temple passing through the Capellone di San Cataldo, and ending at the famous revolving bridge, a marvel of technology from the beginning of the century and still able to thrill us.
But above all Taranto is gold.
I have toured many museums, in Italy and in the world, but objects so beautiful and ancient as the famous Ori of Taranto kept at the MArTa, I have never seen them.
